Skin protection education for
Caribbean families
In response to the Caribbean's intense sun exposure, we developed educational materials focusing on skin protection. This included a creative social media campaign and a kid-friendly activity book teaching sunscreen use and sunburn prevention. Our efforts successfully reached 613 families on social media and 2,625 visits to the webpage during the summer, tailored to engage both adults and children in understanding the importance of skin care in our sunny climate.

Diabetes & COMORBIDITy Education
Initiative
In this health education project, I led the development of five distinct brochures aimed at educating Puerto Ricans about Diabetes and its associated comorbidities. The initiative’s strategy involved hands-on distribution during various health education activities across the island. Our initial brochure was tested at a health fair in rural areas, where I assisted in the provision of one-on-one nurse consultations, using Tanita scales for BMI assessments. This approach ensured personalized advice and enhanced understanding of diabetes management among attendees.
Physical Activity Guide
Design & Promotion
I played a key role in the graphic design and layout of the Physical Activity Guide, which provides comprehensive guidelines for all life stages, from children to the elderly, and inclusively addresses the needs of people with functional diversity. This guide was actively promoted on the Puerto Rico Department of Health's website and social media platforms, successfully garnering 1900 visits, indicating effective reach and engagement with a diverse audience.

Heat Wave Health Education
Campaign
In response to record-breaking heat waves, we launched a multifaceted health education campaign to advise on preventing heat-related health effects. This campaign included creating social media content, fact sheets for media and the public, and organizing a media tour on national television. Our focus was on public servants working outdoors and at-risk groups such as young children and the elderly. The campaign successfully reached over 2,800 families, utilizing diverse channels to maximize impact and awareness.

Health Agenda for Women and Youth
Development
I designed a health agenda informing women about prevention initiatives and measures, tailored for the Mothers and Kids and Teens Division. This document is utilized in activities island-wide. Following the success of this initiative, we collaborated with the Youth Advisory Council to adapt the material for adolescents aged 10–21.
This council plays a pivotal role in the Department of Health's youth-oriented policies and projects, ensuring our message resonates with and effectively reaches this younger demographic. The new document is on development and plans to be ready by January 2024.
